Dating after a breakup: starting again at your own pace
Clarify what you want now, write a profile in the present and choose a first meeting without a fixed deadline.
Mad2Moi is the adult dating app from the same owner as this journal.

Do not turn dating into a deadline
There is no timetable in this guide for when you should start meeting people again. You might want conversation without a new relationship, or you might prefer a pause. Begin with what you want to explore now. You do not have to demonstrate recovery by creating a profile or accepting an invitation.
Separate a conversation from a commitment
Wanting company for a coffee is not the same as being ready to build a couple. Saying this early can prevent a misunderstanding. A fictional message could be: “I would enjoy getting to know someone, but I want to take things gradually.” The other person is also free to prefer a different pace.
Write your profile from the present
Choose a few details about your current interests and availability. You can protect the privacy of a former partner and avoid making an account of the breakup public. A new introduction does not need to compare the next person with the previous one. Use words you could comfortably continue in conversation.
Make the first meeting easy to leave
A short coffee or a public cultural activity can be a possible starting point if both people want it. Agree on a place and a duration that suit you. Keep your own way home and do not share a private address just to make arrangements easier. You can decline or change a plan.
Notice your experience without forcing a conclusion
Afterwards, consider whether you felt comfortable, heard and interested in another conversation. You do not need to decide immediately whether someone could become a partner. If the exchange does not suit you, a clear refusal can be enough. If distress is interfering with daily life, appropriate individual support may be more useful than another dating rule.
Keep control of your resources
Do not send money, authentication codes or identity documents to someone you have just met online. Affectionate messages do not make a financial request safe. The French resources below discuss privacy and romance scams. Rebuilding a social life can also involve friends and activities; it does not have to depend on finding a new partner.
